Utah State University garnered two silver awards and one bronze for online and print student recruitment publications out of 2,100 entries from more than 1,200 U.S. and international colleges, universities and secondary schools.

The awards were announced the week of Feb. 5, 2007, by Admissions Marketing Report in its 22nd Annual Admissions Advertising Awards. Entries were received from institutions in all 50 states and several foreign countries.

"We are honored and pleased to be selected from such an elite pool of colleges and universities," said John DeVilbiss, executive director of USU Public Relations and Marketing. "We produced these recruitment pieces with one goal in mind: ‘reflect the high-quality academic experience students gain by choosing Utah State University.'"

USU’s Web site, produced by Public Relations and Marketing, won a silver award under the Internet/Web site category. The PR/Marketing office, in partnership with Carnegie Communications, also won a silver award under the Direct Mail Advertising category for the production of a seven-postcard series with USU’s office of Admissions.

In addition, a poster series, "My Goal: Graduate from Utah State University," designed by Steven von Niederhausern in conjunction with the USU recruitment office, garnered a bronze award. The posters are featured in high schools throughout Utah and Idaho.

The annual Admissions Advertising Awards is the oldest and largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. A national panel of judges included admissions marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Admissions Marketing Report. The panel reviewed entries and made the award selections.

The judges recognized 15 institutions with the prestigious "Best of Show" award. Gold awards were granted to 224 institutions. Silver awards went to 194 institutions and 172 bronze awards were awarded.

Admissions Marketing Report is the nation’s leading marketing publication for higher education.
