iStockphoto, the world’s fastest growing collection of royalty-free images, recently announced the finalists for the best files of the year for Worldwide Punctum Day. With more than 2 million files in the iStock library and over 1.8 million members voting for their favorites, Punctum Day showcases the best of the best when it comes to quality and creativity.
Punctum Day divided iStock files into five categories: best Photo, Vector, Video, Flash File and Design of the year. Each member of the iStock community was given the chance to vote for one file in each category.
U.S. contributor Steven von Niederhausern stands alone this year as the only U.S. contributor voted into the top ten of the Flash File category. von Niederhausern’s file, Film Countdown Preloader Animation, is one of the most popular download flash files on iStock.
"iStock has sparked a flame of creativity in me and provides an avenue for networking with other professionals," said von Niederhausern. "It’s a humbling experience to be voted into the top ten when I see the vast talent of creative professionals who contribute to iStock."
According to Alexa.com, iStock is ranked in the top 350 global sites visited on the World Wide Web. In February 2006, iStockphoto was acquired by Getty Images, the world’s leading provider of imagery, film and digital services.
